i only do the top lid, and i don't use the stuff that looks like marker (i don't know what you mean by felt tip exactly) but here goes,,,
i close my eyelid and pull on it going away from my nose. i hold it in that position and draw the line.
it really works well for me.

Pull the skin on the outer corner so that the lid is tight and your eye is closed (this technique works wonders). Starting from the middle of your top lashline, move the brush in one smooth movement across the natural shape of your eyes. Turn your wrist slightly upward at the end for a tail if you want.

Starting where the line begins, move the brush toward the inner corner of the eye (the line should be finer here).

In my opinion, felt tips are much better than brushes which can be too flexible. Get comfortable enough with the brush to not flinch or poke yourself in the eye.

First of all if your a blonde always use brown for day time, it will look less harsh and what I always do is pull the outside corner of my eye so that the lid is flat and smooth, this helps make a straight line to draw on, instead of having to make a curve on a open eye. If you still mess up then try using a gelly pencil.

try getting a liquid eyeliner with a small, regular brush at the end. apply very slowly and carefully. make sure you fill in your lash line if using black on top lash line or it will look weird. if you dont want your eyes to look too dark, use a black liquid eyeliner for the top lash line and a brown/tan liquid liner for the bottom lashes. it looks so pretty! =)

Practice! On a day when you don't have to go out, just spend some time in front of the mirror trying it out. If you mess up, use some gentle makeup remover on it and try again. This way you can take some time and not have to be in a rush to get it done.

Practice makes perfect. Try using short straight strokes, they look more natural when using liquid liner and you are less likely to mess up.

Go to a mirror close your eyes and pull on the outer of your eye, (Make it wider) Then take the brush and but the base down.Open other eye which you aren't applying it on. Put a dab of ink on each side (nearer ear and nearer tear duct) then draw a line to each other.

Take the outer corner of your eye.. pull lightly...start at the inner part of your lash-line and slowly go towards the outer corner.Make sure you give it a chance to dry or it will smear when you blink.

Apply with a steady hand... I like to "prop" my wrist of the hand I'm using on my cheek.. You can fix with a damp q-tip.. Good luck
