I think "Dr. Phil" is just kind of his stage name. He probably has a Bachelor of Arts in daytime drama or something. Not that that makes him any less good at what he does.

He has his degree in Philosophy - not psychology and yes, Oprah was very impressed with him. She met him years ago when he helped thru the court trial with the cattle ranchers who sued her. She was found innocent.....of course.
