My hard drive recently fried and I need to replace it. Is this easy to do and will I lose all of my stored information?

If the drive is dead, then the data is lost unless you want to pay for a data recovery service.

Pull out the drive that is in it, find out the model (i.e. a Seagate xxxx) and buy a replacement online.

I would suggest calling a company, VT Services. I was having a issue with my Dell 1150 laptop. Within 1 hour of receiving my laptop they had called me with the estimate. $183 to repair the logic board. The price as well as the customer service was outstanding. I'm sure if you call them, they will be able to ship a hard drive to you. Their website is: www.vtechsvc.com. Phone# (847) 541-7950.
