Sadly XP's security defaults are lacking in this area, happily there are builtin features to fix this-encrypt by rightclikcing the folder in question and choosing the advanced button, then click encrypt files for security, then only your account can see the files or use them!
Hope it works!

If you create another user on the machine and give them only limited rights to the machine then they will not be able to view any files under your profile. This will prevent them from being able to do this but remember if someone is willing to work hard enough there is a way around this as well. But that is a good starting point. Just create a new user profile for this person and give them limited rights.

You need to use a 3rd party program to encrypt your files -- unless you are admin (and no one else is) then you can set file system rights.

This might not be the answer you are looking for and I'm sorry if it isn't but if you can, you should change your password.
