If they arrested you without her statement then they have a pretty believable witness other than your victim.

Many states now no longer require the victim to proceed with prosecuting domestic abuse. This is because abusers routinely abuse the victim for participating in the prosecution.

You need a lawyer to help you with your legal issues and counseling help you break the cycle of abuse.

You don't have to prove your innocence. The DA has to prove every element of the crime beyond a reasonable doubt. If you are in fact not guilty of the crime, then go to trial. (You'll need an attorney, though.) If you are guilty, then for pity's sake don't try to get over because a good DA will break the star witness (GF) on the stand, and then he may very well file further charges of witness tampering, subornation of perjury, and halitosis. The victim may in fact be doing what you think you want at this time, but go to trial and have it turn out you coerced her to back up your story and you are looking at substantial time, on the order of six to ten inside. If you have abused her at any point in the past five years, plead out to probation and reform your life....or keep the vaseline jar handy, you're gonna need it.

I have to agree with the other answer that mentioned your lack of denial. It leads me to believe you may be guilty and then there's the story that leads me to believe you may very well be full of S**t about how this all went down. My guess is there was a report and the police tracked down your gf, saw the evidence and arrested you.

If my feelings are right, and I'm willing to bet they are. You can count on a fine, a short jail sentence if it's your first offense and probably earning a new name that starts with sweet

You don't say you didn't cause the bruise on her. If you did bruise her arm, guess what, you are guilty, not innocent. The whole "didn't and wouldn't hurt her" just doesn't ring true in the face of the evidence.

Get a lawyer. If you can't spell "innocent," you sure as hell can't prove it alone.
