There is no getting around it. Something so personal has to be spoken face to face. If you are afraid of his reaction then do it in a semi-public place, like a park. No matter what your problems are you owe it to your husband to tell him in a civil manner.

Face to face is the best way. If you can't do that maybe a cold hearted email is in order.

Get your ducks in a row and then tell him you are moving out on such n such day. If he's abusive or volatile type in any way, then don't say anything, move while he's at work and leave a note.

The best way to handle this is to tell him straight out. There is no other way to do this. It won't make the hurt any less or any more than it will be once he hears it.

The best policy is be honest. Ignorance will not change anything. You need to let him know even if you need to write him a lettert to let him know.
