yes, it makes me believe that I actually
have a voice, and that people care enough
to listen and try to understand and support me.

I love when people can rely on me and support me. Makes me feel like I have some type
of importance.

Of course.
Obviously, you need to believe in yourself first (or all the others believing in you won't make a bit of difference). But, having no one to encourage you is hard.

OH YES! I have very vivid dreams and I once saw an angel only I was NOT asleep. Right away my husband totally believed me and that meant the world to me because I was almost afraid to tell him or anyone else.

Yes of course it does but if I didnt have anyone I would still believe in me. You have to love yourself enough and have faith in yourself.

It pretty much just means they feel sorry for you. It's a way of saying "no matter how pathetic you are, I'll always pretend that you're not".
