Also, people talk of cruelty against helpless animals. Brett Favre takes his shotguns and blows away unsuspecting animals in the forest for no other reason then pure entertainment. He has no intention of eating them. Call it hunting and I guess it's ok. Do you eat, beef, chicken or pork? These animals are routinely slaughtered...is that not animal cruelty? Who draws the line at dogs and not ducks or deer???

I'm not big on the idea of hunting, so I won't spend a lot of time defending it, however, hunting isn't the same as torturing, which is what Vick has been doing. As far as the Kobe thing, I don't necessarily agree with it, but it's possible that since it wasn't a "sure" thing that he'd committed the crime, it was treated differently than the Vick case. It's obvious to all that Vick is guilty. Once again, I don't think it's right, since we're supposed to be innocent until "proven" guilty, but come on, there's no question that Vick did horrible disgusting things to those poor animals. I, for one, hope he gets whatever the max is for this type of crime, both in time spent in jail and fines.

On the Kobe-Vick dilemma: Kobe Bryant was able to play because he was not appearing in front of a federal grand jury. Also, the NBA plays every day. Kobe is one of the best, if not the best player right now. It wasn't that hard for him to fly in and drop 50 on some scrub team. Vick has to attend all weekdays with his team. Its 11 men out there, plus he's the QB. He's missing all those days of practice and watching film and coming in to prepare for only 2-3 days before a game. It's impossible for a coach to place that much trust in a QB when he's not with the team for most of the week. Kobe could do it because he has skills he doesn't need to practice all week. Vick does.

As for hunting: It seems like many people try to play the race card and say if Brett or Peyton or Tom Brady did it, this wouldn't be as big a deal. Hunting is ok because it has been established that it is ok. Animals are bred and raised to become food. What do you want to rid the world of meat and have everyone become vegetarians? Everyone hunts I bet many people in the government hunt. Here's the thing. IT WAS ESTABLISHED IN THE PAST THAT DOG FIGHTING IS A FELONY AND A CRIMINAL OFFENSE. Its not that the government decided to make dog fighting illegal because Mike Vick was holding fights in his house. It always was and will be illegal, and now Mr. Vick will be facing the consequences

The NFL recently instituted a personal conduct policy, something the NBA does not have. Vick does not need to be convicted of any crime for his actions to be considered detrimental to the image of his team and the league, thus a violation of the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy. The rest of your post in pure nonsense as hunting and the slaughter of livestock are both legal, while dogfighting is not.

Great question...never thought of it.

But my guess will be that the evidence against Vick is overwhelming, and it's a federal case that have been under investigation for years.

In the case of Kobe, it was more like his word against hers. Nobody really knew what went on in the room except for both of them. It would have looked foolish for the commish to have taken her word and not his.

Hunting is totally different, if these dogs were not tied up to a post all day, then maybe you could compare them to a wild animal. Farve hunts wild animals not domestic dogs. Lets fight vick and kobe and bet to see who wins there. Or would that be illegal?

If I'm not mistaken, Kobe's rape case was not a federal case. Vick has been indicted by the Feds. Big difference.

People seem to forget that the NFL and the NBA are two totally separate, unconnected entities. How they chose to handle conduct issues is entirely up to the individual organizations. The NFL now has a strict conduct policy, the NBA does not.

That's about all there is to it.

The Reason Vick is suspended right now is to find out if he lied to the commissioner about whether there was dogfighting going on at his property. He told the man NO. Yet it definitly has been proven that it was.

He may not be involved with it, but he knew it was happening and he lied about it.

Case closed. No vick this year at least!

I know what you are saying, it seem like we hold dog fighting charger higher than rape case, I think that Kobe was able to play was that we all thought that she made it all up, for Vick we thnk he did it so we want to blame him for something that we dont have all the facts.
