I am not interested in a leader attempting to reduce poverty throughout the world.
I am interested in one that is working for the betterment of America, and its citizens (to include those in poverty).

It's the top leaders in the impoverished countries that CAUSE the extreme poverty. Contrary to what you may have heard, there is NO food shortage in the world - there is an overabundance. It's the corrupt governments of these countries that keep the food from getting to the people. Until these dictatorships are overthrown, you'll never see hunger end.

The last person with a life mission like that was Mother Teresa. Since she is gone there are no "top leaders" with the actual mission of ending extreme poverty.

There can never be too many people, it just more consumers, the basis of wealth. Capitalistic policies need to take shape with little/no governmental interference. Simply provdiing foreign aid has proven to be fruitless in eradicating poverty. Instead, policies by the govt with extreme poverty discourage entrepenuership, investments, and thus most remain unemployed. There are many who know this but dont speak up, so to me there arent leaders.

I know who they were, Mother Theresa, Princess Diana, and Martin Luther King Jr.
Today I suppose Bono would be one of the leaders involved in addressing and ending extreme poverty throughout the world. The whole band really is devoted to it. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are doing their share too. Also Bill and Melinda Gates. So there is your answer
1.Bono and U2
2.Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
3.Bill and Melinda Gates

Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft - There is no understating the improvement in productivity that businesses all over the world achieved thanks to MS products. [I welcome competitors to MS - Linux, Apple, etc. However, the gov't should stay out!]
Lee Scott, CEO of Wal Mart - People who criticize Wal Mart for their "cheap" business practices should realize a vital fact. Forcing Wal Mart to change its practices would result in higher prices and less available goods to the people they are purporting to "save".
Ron Paul, Texas US Rep and candidate for the Presidency of the US - At the heart of Congressman Paul's message is that wealth is increased for all when markets are allowed the freedom to innovate. He is working to reduce the influence of big government that impoverishes so many. I would be surprised if he wins the presidency, but he is doing more than any other single person to educate us about liberty.

None. Besides, if people really want to end extreme poverty, they should quit having so many babies.
