Could it have slipped off the window cill into the hem of the curtain?Maybe inside a shoe? Got to think outside of the box.
If it's such a small area then take it in 3 foot squares and search everything in that area meticulously taking nothing for granted, turn things upside down, inside out, underneath etc, etc. Good luck and hang keys up somewhere safe in future, silly Billy.

if your key is made out of the usual metal they use for keys, chances are it's magnetic. One way I found to be effective in looking for lost metallic objects is to use a magnet. A telescopic rod( like an antenna) with a magnet attached to it is an effective way of getting into nooks and crannies, for big jobs, an old speaker magnet will cover a large area in no time.

Beside the floor, look inside everything in case it bounced. Check to see if it lightly wedged sideways somewhere where it can't easily be seen, even when you're looking right at it.
Don't give up.
Enlist fresh eyes, if you have to.
Dang.

I heard you can buy key detectors at retail stores.
A friend of mine got one from Target and it makes
a beeping sound whenever it's near metal objects.
Goodluck, though.

It's under the sofa cushion.
Yell really loud then go for a walk both of you and come back and you'll find it hopefully.
