Most of the time a 30 weeker does survive. Babies can survive as early as 23 weeks, but every week that goes by the stats get better and better. By 28 weeks the baby should definitely survive, unless there are other issues. Generally a baby will remain in the hospital until they have reached at least 36 weeks gestation.

A baby born at 30 weeks has a very good chance of survival, especially if there is nothing else wrong. The baby will be in the hospital, most likely until he or she would have been 40 weeks gestation. The baby will have a very long road ahead and may have long term problems. Every day that a baby can stay in the womb, the better the chances are for that baby.

With modern medicine being what it is today, there's an exceptionally good chance that a baby will survive being born at 30 weeks. The baby will need to remain in the hospital for a while until certain organs are fully functional on their own and that any health concerns have been addressed, but there wouldn't be a lot to worry about. :)

yes they can, but the earlier the baby is born the higher is the risk of brain damage and/or permanent disability. With today's modern newborn intensive care some babies even make it when they are born as early as 24 weeks - but their chance of survival is not very high.
If you are pregnant and are experiencing problems contact your health care provider immediately. There are things that can be done to "buy" they baby some time to develop in utero. The longer the baby stays in the womb the higher is the chance for a healthy baby. A baby is considered full term once week 37 is reached.

Yes- most of the time. While depending on the actualy baby, a baby is considered viable at 24 weeks... some have eevn lived a few days before that... while alotho not all of them can or do a baby CAN survive at 30 weeks

Yes, I was born at 26 weeks in 1983. so the technology is much better now. I was 1lb 12 oz and lost weight after that, not sure how much though. I ended up fine even though the doctors said that if they had given me to much oxygen I would be blind and to little I would die. My lungs were not fully developed and I still have scars on my hands and feet from all of the IV's they had to put in. But yet, a baby can survive.

It is not ideal , but the chances are fairly good. 30 weeks seems to be in the best chance range of having no problems later in life.
The site listed has some simple information that might help.
As always talk to your doctor for his input. If you know the child is to be premature there is special care that should be done right from the start.
