Not everyone calls it football and it''s not 'disrespectful' to call it something else. It is soccer in Canada, plain and simple. Also in the US, New Zealand, South Africa and even in Australia the national team has the nickname the Socceroos... The current world champions Italy do not call it football or anything translating to 'foot' and 'ball'. If wherever your from calls it that, I'll respect that, but try and trot out a two year old article from some idiot and give anyone else a bad time. It's a beautiful game whatever it's called...

When soccer came here, we already had football, so we decided to call it soccer. But everywhere else in the world they call Football from the United States, American Football and not soccer.

Its not called soccer in Australia, we call it wogball, and its generally played by pffters, wogs n sheilers. I dont know where soccer came from but we have 4 different codes of football (3 heavy contact) in Australia so call them by a shortened version of there full name ie Rugby Union (Rugby) Rugby League (league) Australian Football (Aussie Rules) and Soccer (fairy feet-ball, wogball or ballet)

Who care what it is called.
How about trying to fix all the racism and violence that goes on in international soccer. And don't tell me it's passion...I never knew that passion lead to violence.
