It is totally true, that it can cause more problems than it solves. It does change the acid/alkaline balance that is there naturally. You can even cause a vag infection to become worse.

FACT!!!!!!

The vagina is totally self-maintaining.

Use of a douche can upset the exceptionally delicate balance of productive beneficial flora in the vaginal canal and leave a woman open to (at the very least) yeast infections.

If you already have an infection of any sort, the jetting action of the water can force the bacteria into the uterine cavity, creating a potentially fatal infection called Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. It can also force STD's into the uterus that would otherwise NOT be as likely to get past the cervical Os (opening).

Furthermore, if a woman inserts the nozzle too far into the vagina or in the wrong way, severe damage can be done to the cervix, uterine neck and vaginal wall.

Douching should NEVER EVER!!! be performed unless under the strict and watchful guidance of a trained medical professional.

Fact:
the vagina has it's own cleansing system. By douching, you can cause an in-balance of natural cleansing secretions. Unless your Dr. has given you advise to douche to clear up let's say a infection or something , you shouldn't make it a regular part of your routine.
