I was involved in an accident last week. A motorcyle rear-ended me at 125 mph. It totaled my car & ejected him (I saw his body flying over the car & I saw him land. When I walked up to him he was barely breathing. We both got sent to ER & all the way their all I could think about was this person flipping through the air & wondering if he was ok. After all my x-rays & doctor telling me I had cervical & thoratic strain he gave me meds & sent me home. I found out from family that night the man didn't make it. I haven't slept a solid 2 hours in the last week. I went back to the doctor this past Friday, told him I couldn't sleep. He gave me some muscle-relaxer pills to help with the swelling of my throat & to help me sleep. But it still hasn't help. I am sore but I think it's the emotional stress more than anything. My work has went down the past week b/c I can't concentrate, my mind wonders off. I need help. I am going back to doctor Thursday. Thanks.

Sadly, clearing your mind of this imagery is going to take time. There are exercises in concentration and visualization that can engage you for a time, but in traumatic situations there is often a hyper-awareness that effectively carves elements of the experience into our memories. You are right to consult with a doctor on this, to find the best combination of therapy and treatment. Aside from that, be around friends and family, stay active mentally and physically and you will work through this.

I think you may just need to give yourself some time. It was a horrible experience just a few days ago. Talk it out with friends or close family members, let yourself go through the stages of grief (this is not just for death, but for many kind of tragedies). That being said, it sound like it may be the beginning of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, but I would really give yourself more time to accept what happened before exploring meds for PTSD, however, the talk-therapy for it would probably help. Take some time off work. Someone's life ended and you were there, that is awful and difficult. You need to adjust.

You should know that it wasn't your fault that man died.
I'm Christian, so forgive me if you don't believe the way I do..
But I think possibly that man could have been living through a lot of pain, and maybe dying was God's way of helping him, so he didn't have to suffer anymore.
But thats just what I think.

You may want to talk to a grief counselor.
