No, it is fine to swim. Water will help ease your back pain and swollen ankles. Plus, it will relax you. Congratulations!
Here is a little info:
The water itself poses no risk to you or your baby: Research hasn't found any health hazards for healthy pregnant women from the bacteria, chlorine, or other chemicals in pools. But do skip the hot tub and sauna, as overheating can hamper the development of a growing fetus, according to various studies.

Swimming is a wonderful way for pregnant women to exercise, and it's generally considered very safe. But check with your doctor or midwife before you take the plunge. If you swam consistently before you got pregnant, you should be able to continue. If you didn't exercise at all, you should still be able to swim now — you'll just need to start slowly. Do some gentle stretching beforehand, do a few warm-up and cool down laps, and don't overexert. You'll learn how to work out at the appropriate intensity by listening to your body.

Absolutely! Once your water has broken, however, due to risk of infection, it's not advisable.
It's actually a great way to get some relief from the aches and pains of being hugely pregnant. Just remember to never be alone while swimming. You need someone there in case you have problems or go into labor.

I teach water aerobics classes at the community pool. Two of our other instructors held water classes throughout their 9 months of pregnancy and up until delivery. They both said it was the best exercise they could get being 9 months pregnant. Great for swelling and circulation and it gave them a reason to keep moving. At our pool, we tell all our patrons who are expecting that we are happy to have them whether they are attending a water fitness class or just coming to swim or relax during open pool time. We just recommend that they check with their doctor first.

I loved swimming while I was pregnant. Yes it is fine to swim, but my doctor told me not to go in the hot tub and then directly in to the pool. Drastic temperature changes are not good for the baby. I also included a link that may answer any other questions you might have regarding this. Congrats and Good Luck. :)

a pool is fine, or the river. But I wouldn't go in a hot tub! I don't see why swimming wouldn't be ok.. Some ladies' like to give birth under water!

Better dont swim on outside waters like lakes and rivers.
You can swim in your swimming pool for sometime ..
But better dont swim thats the best.
Just few more months and after the baby is born then you can do anyting with all freedom back .. Till then wait atleast for your baby

As long as your water has not broken it is fine to go swimming. But always check with your doc if you have any questions. I used to call mine all the time and I am a nurse.

Unless your doctor has asked you to take it easy or if you have a high risk pregnancy, swimming is an excelent, no-impact way to relax, cool off and excercise! If you are not used to alot of excercise, take it slow...
