Did having an affair ever work out for anyone?

If you were not happy in your marriage and you had an affair - did everything work out in the end? Did the new relationship last and were you happy? Did your spouse and kids eventually accept your decision and the other person? I guess the question is - was the grass greener?

Never greener. Was fun. But end the end, the affair broke up, lost my marriage, and had to deal with divorce, child support, and living on my own.

Once you make the choice, there is no going back, even if she don't know, you change inside.

No, the grass is not greener on the other side. I totally screwed up my first marriage. My husband and I weren't doing so well and I began cheating on my husband. This man had a lot of money and said so many sweet things. He took me to nice places and made me feel good. He begged me to leave my husband said we'd be together. Eventually I did, I left my husband. It last for maybe a month and then he was gone. All the promises, all the things he said meant nothing.
What a fool I had been.
I truly believe in the statement what goes around comes around because I sure got mine.

The grass is very rarely greener. People who have these long running affairs are morons! I can maybe discreet see a one time thing to satisfy some sort of "need" you aren't getting at home but trying to maintain multiple relationships NEVER ends well for anyone.

I must agree with David, who also commented a few lines above. I had an affair, and while I recently lost the girlfriend (made 2 trips to Brazil to see her) and I am still married, now I feel like I am witnessing a slow death to my marriage. And I say witness because even though it is in my hands to reverse course, I feel like I cannot honestly do that-- at least not for the reasons that brought us together 9 years ago. I've changed forever.

My brother did and he married her. The whole family had some hard adjustments but after 25 years now they are still in love and together. I guess my brother just was not happy in that first marriage and we can all see that now! My sister-inlaw is a great person and she is good to his other children from the last marriage. The kid's gave her a hard time years ago but think the world of her now! I think every situation is different as well as the people in it. Good luck to you and take care.

While I have not had to go through this (thank God), I know a lot of people who have. I have not seen it work long term. Usually, once people's true colors come out and you see them in stressful situations or when they are sad, hurt or angry, you realize that they too have faults that you don't like. In the beginning of an affair - it's all fun and new and exciting - but then reality happens. Plus, I think you always wonder - if they did it with me, will they do it to me??

I know of one that actually did work out. They are still together today. It has been 3 years so far. They are inseperable. I thought it was odd but who am I to judge. There kids love them both dearly. The man was unhappy in his relationship and so was wife ther technically still married. The other woman was technically still married too. They stuck with each other through it all and are now married and happy.

Usually an affair is sexually motivated. Affairs happened when something is lacking on the home-front. In the end, it very rarely becomes something. Usually it leaves a trail of broken hearts and homes....

Why would you ask if immoral behavior ever works out. Guess I know where you're coming from. I hope not.

If you have a problem in your marrage deal with it 1st then move on.

I can not really say that it every is really better, you cheat on your husband and then the new person already knows you a cheat so how do you build of that.
