The temperatures are extremely hot so remember to drink plenty of fluids while outside. If you have any additional tips for beating the heat let us know!!! The heat index here is over 100 degrees.

I appreciate the tips. However, I just want to let all of you know that I know that you all are physically aware of how hot it is outside so there is no need to be smart about it. I just know that some people often forget to take in adequate amounts of fluids while engaging in activities outdoors so I just wanted to post a reminder to everyone. Thanks.

i'm on a vacation and it gets up to 140 degrees here, luckily it's only 120.
a few suggestions:
don't stay outside too long, and try not to go in and out a lot because it can make you dizzy and give you a headache.
drink lots of water, oh course. pour water over your head if you can get more.
wear thin summer clothes
let your body sweat, it's a way to cool down and nobody cares if its 100 degrees and you're sweating! it happens to everyone even though you should still wear deodorant and anti perspirant.
stay in the shade, it's 20 degrees cooler than in the sun!
wear sunscreen, it doesn't beat the heat, but if you're without it you're risking getting skin cancer which leads to other cancers. it should be over 15 spf.
if you're a girl, wear a hat and or put your hair up
same with guys wear a hat.
wear sunglasses that protect your eyes. on a sunny day it's risky not to. sunglasses are in style anyways.
hope these help even though they sound dumb.. lol

First of all obviously drink lots of fluids. Stay in the shade and wear a hat.
Wear clothing especially a hat. If you sweat with clothes, your body temp will not rise as much than if you were without clothes; especially in direct sunlight.
if you dont' have A/C, try to keep your windows open and night and close them during the day. Also put your feet in cold water during the day if you get too hot.
Remember you can also do a survivalist trick; take ice water or cold water and take a cloth or towel and soak it. Softly; obviously dont' cut off your carotid arteries; but softly rub your neck front and back with the cool cloth. It will begin to slowly cool your blood, thus lowering your body temp a little. Wear the cloth around your neck and wring it out and dip it in the cool water when it gets too warm. It will help a lot.
If you do get overheated and start to feel sick or light headed, sit quietly slowly sipping water in front of a fan. Soon your core body temp will drop and you will feel better. Good luck.

Will do! Uhm..... I'll recommend popsicles, sherbet, ice cream, and fruits- like watermelons for example- that have a lot of fluids in them. ;-D
A few days ago it was 95 (and we live in Chicago; imagine the humidity! =0) and our air conditioner clunked out. Thankfully we had a spare but my god it was hot for the 5 hours we didn't have air conditioning. x__X

If you know an elderly person you should check on them. Also, be sure your outdoor pets have plenty of water and shade too.

Fill an ice chest with ice and add 2 gallons of water and pull your pants down and sit in it. It works great.
