More often than not, web pages are explanatory. Websites are categorized in different types, for example Professionals, Educational, Service based. While designing websites, programmers and marketing personnel must know the consumers want so that they can plan the configuration for website. If website is for educational purposes, then inevitability it must be tailored for student usability so that it will attract students by making the content of the website easy to navigate through. In short, marketing teams must do a survey of student and bring the results to the programmers to build a workable website.

Normally, web pages are descriptive and are usually listed in different categories such as those for professionals, educational, and service-based. When designing a website, programmers must know what sort of visitors the site will have so the structure is designed for that group. For instance, if the site is for educators, the design must cater to the interest of teachers and/or students. If the site provides web services, the links must be easy to navigate from one page to the next. The text on the page should be easy to read, also. Do not put blue or purple text on a black background, for instance. In short, a programmer must know the market and satisfy what the user wants.

(Hope that helps. I added one of my pet peeves--dark text on dark backgrounds. You can erase it if you want.)
