Las Vegas Wranglers. That was the name of the minor league team here in the 1940s and 1950s. It's the current name used by a minor league hockey team here, but their marketing rights can be bought for pocket change.
Of course we won't get an MLB team because it will require that all of the sports books shut down any MLB action. That's state gaming law and it won't change.

How about the Las Vegas Mustangs or the Las Vegas Prospectors for a major league baseball team, since they are the silver city. Yes, have a Vegas showgirl as the team mascot. Baseball is known for it's unique names like Dodgers, Yankees,'Diamondbacks,Mariners, Marlins, and Astros. The Las Vegas Prospectors sounds pretty original.

If they ever get any major league sports team, you can be sure they'll avoid any name that is associated with gambling. Keep in mind that the casinos are why they don't have a team yet. The sports don't want that association being made by the fans.
So, they may name themselves after the Nevada state animal, the bighorn sheep (Las Vegas Rams, perhaps), or some other desert animal (Coyotes, some sort of lizard, scorpions, something like that), or just something western, like the ECHL Wranglers.
Or was this intended to elicit just humorous responses? If so, sorry.

Its possible and has been one of the cities proposed. There was a time, however, when LV was not a consideration because of the gambling element and I fully agree with that.
Seems kind of funny to me that at the same time MLB makes such a big deal out of Pete Rose gambling, they would propose to place a team in the odds making capitol of the world.
sorry, I forgot to answer your question. The Las Vegas Odds or Las vegas Swedes. (for Swede Risberg)
