When I heard about the resignation of Karl Rove (sniff) the reporter played several sound bites of Rove speaking. My favorite was part of an interview done during last year’s elections in November. The reporter was making a comment about how it looked like the Dems were going to take control of both houses of Congress. Rove said to the reporter, “You can use YOUR math to figure out who’s going to win, I’ll use THE math”. He was, of course, implying that the Dems weren’t going to win. To this day, that makes me laugh out loud! Is that the reason he was asked to leave, because he lost his touch?

Basically, yes.

Karl Rove has become more of a liability than an asset now for the Bush administration. He is considered "damaged goods." The negative image of the administration as a whole has become insurmountable that not even Rove can devise any scheme to overcome it.

Why he left or was asked to leave is speculation at this point. All I have heard is that Bush's staff was told that if they were still on board as of Labor Day they should plan on being there until 1/2009. Perhaps Rove does not want to add to his 6-7 years as long as a year and a half from now.

The dream of a thousand year Republican Reich is ending. The architect of that would be reich has resigned. Has he seen the writing on the wall and realized that his dream was thwarted by the American people who are just waking up and realizing how they have been had? Amazing how the rats abandon an obviously sinking ship. Now one of the biggest and nastiest rats is gone. What next? It is hard to wait for January 20, 2009 when the Rove/Cheney/Bush nightmare will be over.

He still has mad skills, he will be very useful to any candidate who hires him.
Well. . .he seems to be a specialist in Presidential Elections, not congress seats.
He IS damaged goods, the press knows who he is and the press hates him. Any candidate who would hire him has got to realize he is TOO HIGH PROFILE.
I imagine that there are too many calls for his skills by candidates or parties for elections in 2008 for him to stay at the White House. Its a good time for him to move on, he has served his president and country very well through a very tragic period

I was hoping he would have signed on to a Cheney/Rumsfield 2008 ticket - but alas, it is not to be.

The good news: Karl Rove, along with Cheney the biggest pig in US government since Nixon, is leaving.

The bad news: Who will be Bush's brain now? This may cause him to lean even more on Uncle Dick.

The worse news: The damage has already been done.

The reason he was asked to leave is because he got caught. Had he been sneakier he would still be at 1600.
