I have a bedroom plastered with wallpaper that has a clayish kind of backing to it, that has the natural wood paneling backing. My question is.. I want to strip the wallpaper and paint my room, but I want to know, what is the EASIEST way to strip the wallpaper?! My ex said to put wallpaper remover stuff on it, but what about the back? Would it make it stick more because of the clay behind it? I need tips! lol Thanks!

they actually sell a tool that is designed to make tiny pinholes in the paper. you roll it against the walls and it aerates it so that when you spread the remover on the paper it will penetrate more completely. if you're worried about the backing, just try a small section behind your dresser or a door and see if it becomes a problem.

the tool is called a paper tiger. you can get it at walmart or any diy center

Go to Home Depot, get a bottle of "Diff" it's in a quart, makes a gallon of stripper. Get a sponge mop and some rubber gloves.
Follow directions, I've always put down plastic around the room, get the water for the Diff boiling and with the sponge mop, go around the room putting it on. By the time your around the room once, it, the paper, should start becoming loose.
Go around the room again.

If the paper is enameled then you'll have to get a tool that has a pointed wheel and go over the paper with this first so the liquid can get through the paper.

We've done it this way for over twenty years on the job, works great.

Well you could also steam it off with a rental steamer. Most of the time the wallpaper remover releases the paste which is holding the paper to the wall. They make a heavy dutry stripper that is intended for clay based paste which you can find at most home improvement centers. I would also pick up a scoring tool, score the paper first and then apply the remover paste.

You can boil water and then put it in a spray bottle. you may need to do it 2 or 3 times before it all comes off. I hope this helps. Spray the wallpaper with the water, and let it soak into the wall for about 15 minutes. Then scrape it off.
