I watched for about an hour and that was enough for me. I live in Central Oregon with no light pollution so the sky is incredible. I saw many good "burn ups" with alot of greenish ones. I only lasted an hour and went in. How about you did you pull an all nighter?

MANNNN!! I missed it.... was a cloudy, crappy night.
I'll never forget the one I caught as a kid though; my brother, my father and myself on a hilltop watching the shower streak through. I can't wait until I get to see one again!
That night we did stay up until it was over, I think it was about a four hour event or something.
Anyways glad you enjoyed it too! It's definitely something that everyone should see at least once in their lifetime.

In my case, I had to travel (not far, 50 mi or 80 km). I had about an hour before midnight and I saw about 15 as the clouds (2 types) moved in. Some alto cumulus left over from a rainy day, they were still in the process of falling onto themselves and dissipating. However, being outside the city in a hilly area, the air at altitude quickly reached its dew point and stratus-like clouds began to form and started to thicken. So I gave up.

Ironically, back in town (were it was warmer) the Cu had finished dissipating and the Stratus clouds had not begun (air at altitude still above dew point), but the light pollution was too bright (Zero Perseid in 30 minutes).

In bed before 2.

I was at the beach (Santa Cruz, CA) where all the stars were out and the sky was clear as can be, and around 9:30 or so I saw one. It was the largest meteor I've ever seen. It went from NE to SW nearly all the way across the sky. It was amazing.

Too many lights in the sky. I kept poking out and in about 20 mins I saw about 10. Very weak if your by the city.

I went camping a few years ago, just to stay up all night & watch.

It clouded up & rained.

These days, I just need to see a few and I'm good.
