Looks like no one has seen your correction, oops!

An "averagely" developed baby would be ready for a walker by 7 months, yes. However, you may want to read up on them a little bit first. Many doctors are now saying that walkers actually stop babies from walking as soon as they would. They're doing more hurt than help I guess, is what the new studies are finding. This is what the nurses told us at our childbirth preparation and newborn care class at the hospital anyway.

My son started crawling the day before his 7th month Birthday. It is my understanding that 7 months is early that the "normal" or average age is 9 months...but people also have babies that start walking at 9 months. It's hard to define normal. Some babies speak sooner than others while others crawl and walk before other babies.

Nope. I started my daughter in hers at 4 1/2 months. I only let her use it for maybe a total of 30 minutes a day.

If your baby can hold his/her head up with out any problems & can support him/herself with his/her legs then they could be put in a walker. Make sure you read the manufacturer's recommendations as far as the weight & age of your child for that particular walker. Although walkers are not recommended by most docotrs, if you choose to use one look for one with features such as locking wheels & adjustable height. I suggest setting the height low enough so baby actually has to "stand up" using his/her legs muscles to move. This will help with to teach baby to walk with his/her whole foot on the floor not just the tip-toes. It will also teach baby to use his/her muscles & move his/her legs & not just "scoot" across the floor becuase he/she will actually have to stand up to move.
If baby is old enough to walk then he/she can definately use a walker without any problems (we sometimes put our babies in the walker after they learned to walk because it limited where & how fast they could go.)

Don't leave a "non-walking" baby in the walker (or jumper) for extended lengths of time as it is thought to contribute to back problems- due to lack of muscle strength.

Also, make sure there is NO way baby can get near stairs! If you have stairs put up a "hardware" mounted gate (gate mounts directly to the wall.) DO NOT use a "spring" ot "pressure" mounted gate by stairs as baby/child can push on them & knock them down the stairs & "baby came tumbling after!"
