He hates to be picked up! He will bite if I try. I havent seen him eat, and he will take off running real fast and hit his face on the glass if I walk by. How on earth do you tame these creatures. This is the hardest one I've had to care for.

There not really good pets. I will tell you should have got a Bearded Dragon, Gecko, Anole, or even a Water Dragon. And I don't think you can tame it. I have an uncle who had every reptile, Lizards, Snakes (even rattlesnakes), Kamans (alligators), and Spiders. And he even said they don't make good pets. So it is your choice. To get a different lizard, or keep the demon.

Handle him as much as possible and also put your hand down in the tank when you pour out his food. Sit by his cage for a little while also before you take him out so he gets use to you being there. If you drop him or start feeling fear or put him up, ect. In his eyes, hes won the battle against you and if you do not continue to handle him even after he tries to bite, he will become meaner and eventually be unhandleable

Basilisks by nature have a nasty disposition. The best advice that I can give you is to handle it often and gently. But even that may not help. Basilisks are the type of reptile that people buy to observe and enjoy without much hands-on activity.

You should start by sitting in front of the glass and get him used to your presence. In order to break him from biting you each time you pick him up, you will need to hold him as much as possible. I know its kind-of scary, considering that he bites, but you will just have to do it, it might be helpful to have someone to help you with him.

Constantly pick it up. I had an iguana that did the same thing for a while, but after months of constant handling, it stopped biting all together.
