Why should anyone be scared of a president because of his/her religious beliefs? I don't know if you have been in contact with many people in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints(MORMON) or not but many live in my community and I find them very pro American. They have scout troops sponsored by their church and they are always there during any patriotic event. The fact that they don't shout that they are Mormons makes it nice. If one needs to know about one's religion than they state theirs and do their thing otherwise they respect others and others respect them with regard to religion. Neither they nor anyone else in our community try to cram their beliefs down other's throats and that is just as it should be.
The decisions Mr. Romney would make are of a secular nature. Unlike the current President who wears his religion on his sleeve Mr. Romney only discusses his religion when and because others do. His Christian upbringing will, of course, have bearing on how he does his job but I doubt we will see special priveliges for the LDS church just because he is president any more than Kennedy gave the Catholic church any special privliges (Kennedy didn't give the Catholic church any special privleges in case you wonder).

Not anymore than you should be scared of any other religious president. All religions are different in their own way. It is not the presidents job to bring his religion into the government and I doubt that Romney will try.

No. Everyone has a 'moral compass' of some sort. Whether it's religion, upbringing or what ever. Even aethiest liberals have some sort of moral compass, something that helps them tell right from wrong. They may not know where it comes from, but it's there. You can't make most decisions in life without consulting your own value system. Members of the Mormon faith have an excellent 'moral compass' and value system. I personally don't agree with their belief system, but I respect them for it.

I don't know if "scared" is the right word, but after living in Utah, and witnessing first hand how much influence the Mormon church has on every facet of that state's policies ands laws, I would never vote for a Mormon as President of the U.S.

No you should not fear Mitt Romney, if a President really started to radically alter the U.S. for religious reasons he/she would be out of office so quick his advisor's heads would spin. He hasn't even won his parties nomination yet and should probably be given the benefit of the doubt.

Why? What would make you fear? Being afraid of a Mormon President is silly.

I don't think so.
However, electing a president with a Muslim background would be the epitome of irony at this point in our history - dangerously so.

Yes, you should absolutely be scared!
Halfshaft is correct. I too, live in a mormon controlled state. We really don't need that church to be in control.

What is there to be afraid of? Do you think he'll make you have more than one wife? They don't do that anymore. I don't understand why the fear.

Why? Because of his high moral standards, honesty, integrity, high family values...???
OH yeah, those things aren't the "world's" ways so they must sound pretty scary.
