You know, fire and water and such.
What about lightning/electricity??
Thanks in advance. :3

Lightning is made of electricity. Electricity is the force that splits and recombines matter. Therefore, since the opposite of matter is antimatter (which actually exists -- if only briefly), I would say that the opposite of lightning would be those forces which split and recombine antimatter.

Sorry -- I do not have names for these forces for now.

Probably Earth.

Lightning comes from Air, especially during storms bringing Water and can rarely cause Fire. It therefore seeks out the Earth to maintain the Balance.

Many who believe in a fifth, spiritual element tend to believe that is involved too.

Of course we all know it is simply electrical potential caused by friction. To do the opposite you would zap vast amounts of electricity into the air in such a way as to exploit the paramagnetic property of oxygen in order to dissipate clouds.

The old philosopher characterized his elements:
Fire, Air, Water, Earth.
The theory was that everything was a combination of these "elements" in various combinations.

Today we read these as the four most common states of matter:
Plasma, Gas, Liquid, Solid.

Lightning, being an electrcal discharge that ionizes air
Would be called Fire, or a mix of Fire and Air under the old system.

You may need to ask this in the "alternative" science forum, as earth science has not recognized the limitations of "four elements" in about 1000 years.

I think that concept only exist in nursery rhymes. There is no such thing as an elemental opposite.

a guess-lightening (discharge)would be the ethers, so the opposite would be mineral maybe since photosynthesis is the abosrption of light rays to make elements .
