Are you certain they are gnats? There are also flying ants, midges and various other UFOs. If they are living inside potted plants, you can purchase a product from Park Seed that is very inexpensive and works well. You didn't say if they are indoors or out, but the product works either way. It will not work on flying, biting ants. The item is called Yellow Sticky Traps. They come in different sizes to accomodate the problem. Hope this works!

I just had the same problem. What I did was take some bowls and fill with apple cider vinegar, cover tightly with saran wrap, poke some holes in it the gnats will get in but won't be able to get out. You can also take a 2 liter bottle and cut top off about 3 inches down, fill with 1/2 cup each of vinegar and sugar, fill with water1/2 to 3/4 of the way full then take and put top back on inverted, may need to duct tape to keep secure---will take a few days to catch all of them so be patient. Also make sure you pour bleach down your drains--this will help to keep them from breeding in the drains. Hope this helps it worked for me

Gnats are the flying male form of ants. Wipe out their colony.
This can be done by leaving oats around their tunnels. They carry them back to the nest where they are eaten. Once the oats mix with their digestive juices it expands killing the ant.
