The Mayan's built Chichen Itza, so I think they know their stuff! Chichen Itza, is the step pyramid with the snakes head at the bottom.
At both Equinox's (when day and night are equal length), the shadows created by the steps combine with the snakes head to create a huge snake illusion.
This can be viewed anytime of year BUT, at the Equinox's, its perfect! Considering its a few thousands years old, thats some seriously crazy technology they had!
Anyway, 2012 is the end of an AGE not of the world per se. Things will start to be different, but it may take hundreds, or even thousands of years for us mere mortals to realise.

The Movies are Fictional, they have nothing to do with real life. 2012 is a Native American Indian of Central America time when the calendar ends on the long count of the Aztec Calendar. Just like the modern calendar ends in December, and the decade ends in 2010, and the century ends in 3000. then the cycle starts over again that's all. Only God knows when the world will end, 2012 is just another day in the history of the world.

There aren't, as far as I'm aware, any specific prophecies about 2012. The Mayans, for no know reason, stopped their calender in that year, but didn't leave any clues why. Many people have speculated about this, but there isn't any indication that there is any truth to it.

Gawd i hope not but if it does it happens on december 21 2012 it sounds like it will. other prophecies have come true like the war going on now

Yup. It will be an amazing time. There are different theories as to what exactly is going to take place....cataclysms and the like. I think it will be a mix of catastrophe and also a huge shift in consciousness for mankind. Exciting! :) Be prepared my friend!

All that I think will happen is that the Earth will progress to the true Age of Aquarius and the Age of Pisces will end.

all the other ones haven't ........ but this looks promising for a change of pace ........... we'll just have to wait and see.
