...Than with parents who spank?
Also, if you get spanked by your parents, do you wish you were in foster care???

By the way, i'm not talking about beating or anything, just a spanking that does not leave any bruises or cause injury.
It seems to me that all those anti-spanking fanatics who think spanking should be illegal don't really have childrens' best interests at heart, since they think that children who are spanked should be taken away and placed in foster care, never to see their parents again.

I was spanked when I was younger if I had already been warned enough not to do something.
I'm not against spanking but I definentley think it should be a last resort if a child continues to behave. & of course, it should not leave any permanent marks or bruises.

Of course I hated being spanked but I did learn my lesson. Even if parents don't practice spanking their children, there are other ways to enforce discipline that have worked well for their familes & for others it has not. In these instances spanking seems the only option but unfortunately they'd never receive it & it's often these kids that become troublemakers & whose parents let them get away with just about everything.

I do not think that a parent should get their children taken away just because they spank them. But their is a fine line between spanking and abuse because many parents spank in anger and frustration, which make it very easy to lose control. And I do think that parents who beat up their children and rely on fear and intimidation should have their children taken away. No child should be forced to endure abuse in their own home.

Another problem with spanking has to do with what the child learns from it. It teaches children to use physical aggression to solve problems with others and conveys that the ultimate authority should belong to whoever is bigger and stronger. Moreover, spanking may immediately stop bad behavior, but it does not teach the child what good behavior is. And since the parent is in control of all the familial resources and can easily restrain the child if needed, I don't see why spanking should be necessary.

And in case you're wondering, I was spanked as a child. And it didn't make me obey the rules, it made me find ways to subvert the rules so I wouldn't get caught.

I was spanked as a kid, but not often. I've very rarely spanked my kids and never in anger. I don't think that some spanking is bad and in some cases maybe more needed than others. There are many children that should have some form of consistent, caring discipline in their lives and a good realization that there are consequences to their actions.

I had spankings as a child. and when I was younger I hated them, but I realized now that I am older, is the spanking helped me realized who had authority in the house. I never raised my hand at EITHER of my parents, or cuss them or talk back to them.

children from spankless houses can talk to their parents any kind of way and get away with it, why? because they dont see their parents as authorities, only as friends or people they can boss around.
