You need to be certain to press inward on the torque converter, while turning it slowly. The transmission's pump is driven by the torque converter, and has to be engaged in the snout. You'll know when you've gotten it right, the converter will move inward toward the transmission a fair amount.

To install a torque convertor, you just have to slip it over the input shaft and support on the transmission. When you've got it on, spin and gently continue to push the convertor until it slips over the ears of the internal trans. pump. It should spin free on everything when it is in all the way and it should be inside the area of the bell housing so as it will move slightly when you bolt the trans. to the motor. The extra play is taken up by the ears. Then install the trans. to the motor and when you bolt the flywheel to the convertor, the ears will slip to meet the flywheel. Good luck.

put the torque converter into the transmission and spin it back and forth until you hear it click twice, that way you know it's seated into the tranny, then just bolt up your trans to the engine, after bolting the tranny to the engine you will need to bolt the torque converter to the flywheel hubs, get all the bolts started and then tighten them down to the torque specs given for your vehicle, you will have to turn the motor by hand to tighten all the bolts all around the flywheel and when you get that done bolt on the inspection plate and your done other than filling up the tranny with fluid.

Put converter on transmission input shaft.. Push it into the trans..

What I tell novices is listen for clunks/clicks... For the converter to be fully seated you need to hear 3 clunks.

When you 1st put it on the shaft and turn it.. You will hear the 1st one..

Then keep pushing and turning... It will slip into the second tang and clunk again.. Now the third and last one norm takes longer to get.. Just keep pushings and turning..

Once you get the last one, the converter will be well into the transmission bell housing.. Not sticking out of it any.

Now slide trans up to engine, aline the 2 dowl pins and push trans onto them.. Bolt trans to engine..

Now you want to bolt converter to flexplate,.. You should have to pull the converter foward to meet the flexplate.

the converter must be pushed in and spun to seat it in the pump gears. it will clunk in three times to be seated right it will not just push in. The edge of the converter should be 1,2 inch's inside the bell-housing and spin free with no rubbing noise
