I am going into 9th grade and I know I am going to be involved in a lot of after school activities.
I am also trying out for the volleyball team.
In the past when I asked my parents they said "use somebody else's if you need to "
How can I convince them??

YOU SHOULD HAVE A CELL PHONE BY NOW! Explain to your parents why you should have your own cell phone. What I tried was: I got into a situation that was totally safe but i could not reach my parents because I didn't have a cell phone.

What's wrong with using someone else's? If anything tell them you get a job and pay for half of it and pay every other month full bill and they pay every other month full bill. Get a basic phone with no extras, just calling and limited minutes since all you need it for is to call them to tell them what is going on since you want to keep them connected with what you are doing. So let's see it should be no more than 2-3 minutes per call and say you call everyday after school that is 10-15 minutes a week and 40-60 minutes a month. So all you need is about 40-60 minutes per month. That should be quite affordable and handy for you. But since that is probably not going to be happening everyday I say you would only need 40 minutes or 30 even. Learn to ration and use wisely at a young age so you do not grow up being wasteful later on in life. Of course if any of this does not sound good then the phone is obviously wanted for more novelty and showoff reasons than practical staying in touch and updating parents for. Ah the fair negotiating world is a beautiful thing.

No problem Follow these steps and in a week u get a cellphone.

1)Go out with your friends:yeah stay with them for a long time till your parents get really pissed then when u get home, your folks will shout and blast your ***, but u say that neither of your friends had a cell to inform you

2)Stay over at school without telling your parents: Practice or whatever just stay back at school. Again your mom and dad will get scared or worse worry about you. U come home safely and say that i could not inform u as i was busy with practice, also say that the school wont allow calling, then say that i dont even have a cell phone.

3)Go to late night parties or etc. : This one may be tough for a guy like u but try to pull it off. Go out in the evening and get back home by midnight or even late by 2 or something. This will put your folks *** & brains on a volcano. They may even hit you , but all u have to say, if i had a cellphone then i could have told u.

4)Birthday Gift: Yeah ask for a cell from your parents a t birthday, sure they wont mind.

But a thing, i never tried this stuff, as soon as i got in 9th grade(i am in 10th now)i got the sony walkman W810i & i didnt even ask for it. Guess my parents read my mind.

Get a prepaid cell phone, you won't even need your parent's to buy it for you. You can pay for it with your allowance or money you earn babysitting or whatever. You can find the phones almost anywhere, Walmart, Walgreens, etc. The phone will cost you about $60-$100 depending on which phone you choose. And then you just buy the prepaid cards to match your phone. The cards have minutes on them that you put on your phone, so you never have a bill, you just buy however many minutes you want. The cards cost anywhere from $10-$100 depending on how many minutes you want.

Let them know some cell phone right now have Chaperone (Family locater) function, where they can track where you are in case of emergency and let them know you will not use alot of mins and try to call you friends after the free time on phone or sign up unlimited text and use that instead of talking to your friends.

perhaps telling them that you will pay for part of it. Or asking for a pre-paid phone.
