Our garden area near the outside door has a problem this year with millipedes. We have it under control with insect spray and they die off quickly. The problem is that dead millipedes (we are talking hundreds or thousands) give off a strong disgusting odor. Does anyone know of a chemical etc. that we could put in the garden to neutralize the odor. We do not have the time to daily dig up (damage the flowers etc.) and bury hundreds of dead millipedes.

I sure do, its called mosquito and gnat scat...I started buying this to repel mosquitos and end up using it more to disguise the smell of fish emulsion in our garden. Its all natural and smells like a lemony garlic mix. Better than bugs or dead fish :-)

PS Be careful if you use lime...it can change the ph in your soil/garden.

Make sure it's hydrated lime. CaOH. Calcium Hydroxide. My uncle used to be involved in organized crime. Whenever they had to dispose of a body, they would dig a shallow grave and cover the victim with a 50 lb bag of hydrated lime. Then they'd cover it back up with dirt. He took me on several of the burial operations when I was a kid. It never smelled and the body decomposed in a few weeks.

You could try sprinkling some lime over them. It will also benefit your soil and plants. Available at nurseries in bags. Inexpensive.
