What planet are you people from?

Heating elements, thermo couplings, and pilot lights; I dare say there isn’t one of you who have seen the inside of GAS cloths dryer let alone repaired one. I used to enjoy yahoo answers, but now it seems all I do is get mad when I read the first 10 idiotic responses of every question I would like to answer.

The Glow bar guy is the only answer that makes a lick of sense, but I’ll even say to him it’s not a glow bar …… It’s a Hot Surface Igniter, and the process is termed Hot Surface Ignition. But, I’ll admit that is knit picking.

His answer could, and is most likely right, but it could also be a hundred other things that a Service Tech would have to test for.

Don't look for the heating element some are referring to.
They did not understand that you have a gas dryer.
The first thing to check will be the pilot light. If it is not burning.
Try to light it. If it won't light you may be out of gas. (Propane or Natural I don't know since it was not stated)
Second if the pilot light is burning, the thermo-coupling may be bad.
If the dryer is getting hot but not drying the clothes the vent is stopped up as stated by William or if the dryer is in a tightly sealed room & the dryer is not vented to the outside, the air will become saturated with moisture & not dry the clothes. There are some sensors that could be bad, but without a multi meter you won't be able to check them.

Many gas dryers have what's known as a glowbar ignition. There is a small electrically operated glow bar that acts as your "pilot light". It can still glow, yet not get quite hot enough to signal the gas safety valve to release gas to the burner assembly. This is to prevent explosions. The gas safety valve will not open until ignition of the gas is assured!

Take off the kick plate in the front and start your dryer. Look for the glowbar to glow, and wait to see if the burner assembly lights or not. If it glows yet doesn't light, odds are that the glowbar is faulty. Usually pretty cheap to replace. Sometimes, the gas safety valve itself is faulty and needs replacement. Test for continuity across these coils.

Sometimes the valve coils are the problem, other times it's the glowbar.

Its ok ,your dryer has Gas Valve hide in an access
door on it. 1- Could be as simple as re-liteing the
pilot lite.Find valve should have instruction on lighting
it. If not ,turn gas valve knob to pilot an push down an hold
it there, while holding botton down, light the pilot. Keep holding botton down ,you most hold for about 30-45
seconds,Then release it an if Pilot stays lit, your ok.
Then turn knolb to ON an your good to use it.
If when you let go of botton the Pilot goes
out try once again. If not staying lit you will need a new
Therm o cupling. Its a sencer that tells the gas its ok to
come ON.It goes from gas valve to end were Pilot lite
is mounted. About 3 to6 Dollars an 15mins to put it
on Dryer.
Hope this Helps

We had this problem with our Sears dryer several months back. It would spin, but it just wasn't getting hot. We had Sears out to repair it, and it ended up being a fuse within the dryer. We asked and the repairman said it was a fairly common problem.

I may get another violation notice for mentioning this, but none of these well meaning folks have a nice blue hat like I have. If you have somebody a little handy, you can just go to http://appliancequickfix.com/ and they will give you a very easy instructions on how to check to find the problem.
Dont worry, even a caveman could do it. Its loads better than making funny faces at the camara.

The pilot light could have gone out. OR it might still be heating, but the exhaust is clogged and the moisture can't get out.

I did. It turned out to be the heating element in the dryer.

as others said, could be that fuse, or a clogged manifold, broken heat element or the pilot light ...and there's also a 'thermocouple' that could be bad...most/all of which are best resolved by a QUALIFIED service tech.
