These segments constantly shed eggs and sperm. They eventually break off and are passed out of the host's body. Because it lives in the intestine, tapeworms have no digestive or circulatory systems. Their only organ system is their reproductive structures. Tapeworms have radically changed their bodies to be able to exist inside another animal without being attacked by their host's immune system. Because of this, tapeworms are very highly evolved organisms, as are most paracites.
