I make sure to go EXACTLY the speed limit, no more and no less. I consider tailgating a kind of bullying tactic.

One time i was on the parkway in the left lane and this moron was tailgating me and i was already doing over 70. Here in new york the speed limit is 55, so i was way over. up ahead there was a motorcycle gang taking up the middle and right lane. I rode beside them for almost 5 miles so the jerk behind me couldn't go anywhere. I could see the vein on his forehead popping up from my rear-view mirror. But what was he going to do.. honk at 9 guys on motorcycles to get out of his way?
I wouldn't recommend trying this one yourself. sometimes i give the breaks a little tap so my break light comes on.. this usually makes them back off. it also guarantees you a middle finger from the driver as he passes you. hahaha.. safest to more into the next lane and let the idiots pass.

Tailgating is rude and dangerous. That said, it ticks me off. I do a few things:
Line up bumpers to the semi next to me and go exactly his speed limit so car can't pass.
COMPLETELY let off gas and watch him swerve to not hit me.
Go one mile under the speed limit.
One time, I had my had out the window tapping along to the song I was listening to. It was a beautiful sunny day, I was in fast lane and going over speed limit. My happiness at tapping to the music really angered the guy behind me because he passed me on the birm. I blew him a kiss =)

If someone tailgates me - I usually decrease my speed, make sure i follow every rule of the road and smirk in the mirror. If someone's in so much of a hurry, they should have left earlier. Not my problem. Im not gonna drive carelessy just because some fool is drivin up my *** - they can just f**kin wait as far as I'm concerned. Haha

I'll slow down so they'll change lanes & go around me. If they can't get around, I'll pull over so they can. I have been hit before, and do NOT want it to happen again, but I will NOT be bullied into speeding just because someone ELSE wants to break the law.

I slow down. I pay my taxes, they are going to just have to share the road.
I dont tailgate at all, my motto is if you can read the license plate and spell the State name off that license plate, you are too close.

I do go VERY slowly. like half the limit sometimes. Tailgaiting's so rude, but I think some peple don't realise they are doing it, they are just bad drivers...i consider slowing down a responsible act, as they are probably dangerous drivers, so I am smug and sanctamonious aswell as an annoying driver.
When he goes past me I speed up enormously and tailgait him.

i am definitely not a tailgater. i really hate it when people do that. if i'm in the car with my children, i just change lanes. if i'm in the car by myself, i can't lie, i slow down.....really slow down.....they usually drive by me and give me the finger or blow their horn at me :-)

i slow down even more so they could stop and go around.. and if not i hit my brakes real hard to scare them.. if they hit me.. they were tailgaiting.. its their fault. i hate people like that.. actually i think i have road rage. oh well!
