I never had very many until I moved to the town I'm in now. Now I say I have about 5 or 6 close friends and about 20 or 30 general friends.

I truely think that what you have to do here is divide up as to who are the friends , and who are friends? no this might make sence to you , but lets put it this way ? you have all these friends , yes their , come to see you , talk to you , but ask yourself , if you were in trouble , and things got bad for you , I wonder how many of these so called friends , would still be around , i can tell you not many , because all these kind of friends have done is to hang around you , in the good times , , now lets talk about the real friends this i would classifie , as the friends you are seeking , the ones that ones that would be their , for you in the good time and the bad , pick up a phone and they will come . to your aid , , let me tell you you these kind of friends , can only be counted on one hand , and these are the oneswho will be their for you always , so get rid of the hangers on the so called friends , and look at the real friends .

I'm very gregarious, I'd say I know more than 500 people who consider me their friends, but who's counting. But the ones whom I consider my closest friends, barely 20.
These twenty or so people are the ones who know me very well and will accept me for who I am, bad choices or not, bad hair days or not, rich or poor, healthy or dying. Our friendship has been tested through time and other challenges.
The rest are people who I consider friends but I don't know well enough and that the friendship either will blossom or tank in the future.
BTW, am nearing my 40s so I do know a lot of people.

True Friends like a few. Just friends who I talk with but not hang out with much like 20.
