Hypnotherapy or see a psychologist or therapist. I know it sounds crazy, but there's probably a reason why you're still doing it and you might not be aware of what that reason is. Talking to someone might help.

I'm 31 and suck my thumb!!!
And I'm not a WEIRDO! I'm petite and cute! I'm Married with a 5 month old boy. My teeth are OK also and I never had braces!

When I was young my parents did all kinds of stuff to try and get me to stop, I'm not ever stopping! Don't be embarrassed.
When you are out of high school you wont care what others think about it anyway!

Just be discrete. Don't start sucking away in Algebra class.
I just suck mine when I'm going to sleep!

Well I sucked my thumb until I was eight years old. My mom told me she would pierce my ears if I stopped and I did. I don't know if an incentive like that would work at 12 years old but maybe you could mention it to your mom and see what she thinks.

my grandfather would put hot sauce on our fingers. That was the last time i ever sucked my thumb. not just tabasco, the REALLY HOT STUFF.
however, try switching to maybe lollipops or straws and plastic spoons if you can't have candy. As I got older i always carried a plastic spoon with me. some people thought it wierd, but it worked for me. and who cares what others think.
try different things, and see what works for you.

My sister did this mostly because my mom took away her pacifier to soon. In the 9th or 10th grade (I'm younger then her by a yr and was in HS so I assume it was 10th grade) she had to have an oral surgeon break her entire jaw and reconstruct it as her jaw was malformed causing her to be "buck toothed" 6 weeks of eating through a straw cured my sister.

They have those bite down things people use at night when they grind their teeth. Or just use one of those teeth guard boxers use...can't get your thumb in if your mouth is full. I bought my mouth guard at the local sporting goods store for my karate, its actually pretty comfortable.

Go see your dentist. They can install this metal thing with teeth for the top of your mouth to discourage you to put your fingers in there.
