You always hear people say, “You can do anything if you put your mind to.” Therefore, what happens when you do put your mind to something, but it still is impossible to accomplish?

Will it result in a never-ending loosing battle, or does the impossible eventually become possible with enough determination?

From my own experiences I feel that when I really, really want something, I end up getting it in some form. It may not be the ultimate goal that I set my self up for, but somewhere along the journey, I find another avenue that I would want to explore.

Some disappointments in life turn out to be your greatest accomplishments, if you let them inspire you to reach higher and higher.

Nothing happens except your effort.

But beyond that, here's the wonder that is being human. We can want to do things, like fly. Well, no matter how hard I flap my arms, I won't fly when I fall off a building. But humans can think of other ways to do things. Thus, gliders, airplanes and helicopters are created.

Can't breathe underwater because we don't have gills? Scuba! Want to walk on the moon? Well, build a rocket.

So, sometimes all it takes is looking at the problem a bit differently and then the seemingly impossible can become possible.

In a word, it's called a work around.

This question is kind of like the old "unstoppable force meets immovable wall" paradox. One or the other, perhaps both, in the end, must be untrue. Some 'impossible' tasks are doable, given enough energy, resources, ingenuity, and patience. For example, in Alexander the Great's time, the Gordian Knot was said to be impossible to untie, Alexander took his sword and cut it, he won. A more realistic example from his life is his siege of Tyre. Tyre was an island fortress and Alexander could not bring his army against it because he lacked the ships to mount the assault. So, he had his men move dirt, lots of dirt, and built his own land bridge from the mainland to Tyre, making the island part of the mainland to this day. He then took the city. So I believe nothing is truly impossible and eventually, someone will be able to do it. Not everyone is capable though, so it depends on the individual.

Along the journey we loose sight of what it was that set us out the front door and on our way but it doesn’t even matter any more, because defining the possible is only possible if we interact with the impossible. If our desire is truly impossible we will never get it. But after awhile this doesn’t even matter any more we take comfort in the futile actions of moving towards our goal. The shadowy coveted reflection of could haves, intermingle with the static stationary reality, through our dreams, we see the lush valley below though we can see it we will never reach it alas for the vision evaporates in the face of the mourning son.
