Total withdrawal. Let this country find its own sovereignty. The US did not have puppeteers during its revolutions. Iraq will suffer many years of doubt, mistrust and hatred due to this invasion and internal collapse.

At this point. That's like asking a person who's jumped off a cliff without a parachute what his strategy is. By effectively blocking any criticism for the failures in planning in the original invasion,
he has set himself up to... keep falling.

I guess the strategy is, when the falling is done, try to hit the ground rolling and hope too many bones don't get broken.

What would have helped would have been an honest strategy BEFORE the invasion, not just a bunch of sneaky justifications rapped around a secret master plan.

Triple the number of troops. Withdraw from the cities and towns and establish a defense line all around Iraq especially those bordering Iran and Syria. Then watch the Muslims kill one another. When they've had their fill of killings, go back in and go after the residuals.

take combat troops OUT. Send them to the borders to secure them. Then, concentrate on training security forces, and work their butts off trying to rebuild foreign diplomatic relations with the rest of the world. Engage the international community in securing Iraq. Leave.
