Both are legends, but I would pick James Worthy as the better player. Nique was more of a showman with his great dunks and athleticism.

If you already have a good team and you need a second or third option Worthy, if you want to fill the seats despite not having any chance to win a championship take Wilkins. I prefer Worthy, a better defender great clutch player and very efficient in transition, on the baseline and can hit the open 14-17 footer. Wilkins usually a poor defender and a gunner, in his prime though he could really fill the seats.

I'd have to say Dominique. Don't get me wrong, James Worthy was a great player, but he was more of a role player on a team with a cast of great players. Dominique on the other hand was the MAN for Atlanta. Plus, his jumping ability and acrobatics were topped only by Michael Jordan. Dominique is called 'The human highlight film' for good reason.

James Worthy. He was a more all around, solid player who could easily step up in the clutch. See the 1987 and 1988 Championships for details.

PLEASE READ even though its a little long. oh man, I disagree with yall so much. First of all the Hawks didnt suck when Nique was with them. They won over 50 games every season 85-89. but never made it past the semis. They lost in the 88 eastern conference semis in 7 games by 2 poinst, Birds Celtics beat them. But they Hawks were always respected as an elite team in the 80s.

now to show you why Nique was better than James Worthy.
first of all Nique was a better 3 point shooter than Worthy (unlike what that guy said) he was also a better rebounder, and defensive player. this is their career stats from NBA.com
3FG% .241 (worthy) .319(wilkins)
rebounds 4708 (worthy) 7169(wilkins)
steals 1041 (worthy) 1378 (wilkins)
blocks 624(worthy) 642 (wilkins)
points 16320 (worthy) 26668 (wilkins)
ppg 17.6 (worthy) 24.8 (wilkins)

so in these 6 categories Nique was better. Worthy was better in FG% .531. Nique FG% was .461. Which makes sense since Nique was double teamed and sometimes triple teamed alot more than Worthy was. Still Nique had1000 more pts than Worthy. Worthy also had more assists with 2791, Nique had 2667. however Worthy only averaged half an assist more than nique per game. This can also be attributed to the fact that Nique was the first scoring option not the 3rd. Nique is so underrated. He was not only a dunker he could rebound, and shoot. I mean he could score almost at will.
When Nique was left off the top 50 of all time it was the biggest screwup in NBA History. He was 7th in all time points and 10th in all time career ppg. Plus he was good in every other category. Worthy was 54th in all time scoring when he retired. Wilkins was 7th!! Plus Wilkins recorded more blocks, steals, and over more than 2000 more rebounds than James Worthy. Wilkins was better hands down

and to that guy who gave me thumbs down rating: Why give me a thumbs down? Wilkins stats are better in 6 of 8 possible categories and many of those categories he is significantly better. How is that a bad argument? Wilkins is underrated because hes a Hawk and Worthy is overrated because hes a Laker. And its a shame how people sleep on Nique and say hes just a specialist when his stats defensively are ALL better than Worthy. What concrete proof has anyone given that Worthy is better. And unlike what that guy after me said, Worthy was never an MVP.

Here is all of his accomplishments from NBA.com
Hall of Fame (2003); NBA champion (1985, '87, '88); NBA Finals MVP (1988); All-NBA Third Team (1990, '91); All-Rookie Team (1983); Seven-time NBA All-Star (1986-92); One of 50 Greatest Players in NBA History (1996).

here is Wilkins
Elected to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (2006); All-NBA First Team (1986); All-NBA Second Team (1987, '88, '91, '93); All-NBA Third Team (1989, '94); All-NBA Rookie Team (1983); Nine-time NBA All-Star (1986-94); Slam Dunk champ (1985, '90)

Take Worthy off the Lakers and he has no Championships or Finals MVP. which is the only accomplisments he has over Wilkins, except the 50 greatest players. (which was largely a popularity contest and Worthy unfairly got over Dominique, to prove it was largely a popularity contest: Shaq was named one of the 50 greatest, even though he only played 3 seasons in the NBA and accomplised NOTHING except leading the league in scoring and FG% however he was extremely popular and he deserves it now, but not in 1996) Worthy never even made All NBA second team. He only got All NBA Third team twice. Wilkins got All NBA thrid team twice also but he also made All NBA First once and Second team four times and he went to more all star games. Worthy gets more respect because he was a porduct of a great team. He was a great player, but if Wilkins was on the Lakers then this question would never have even entered anyones mind.

Good question. I'd say James Worthy, because he was a more all-around player. His defense was spectacular, and his intangibles were off the chart (hustle in the playoffs, his D on Bird & McHale, his energy). He was the 1988 Playoffs MVP.
