Technically, oil IS one of the "perks" of Iraq. ^_^ But, back to the question, let's get realistic. Gas prices are controlled not by the AMOUNT of oil, but the oil companies moods. Notice how the gas prices went down during the primary elections? Notice how the president and many other government officials are a part of the oil companies, thus are practically granted amnesty from any sort of restrictions? It would be NICE if more oil from Iraq meant lower gas prices, but....its not that easy. =) Sadly.

Because of repeated attacks of the insurgency, we have been unable to get the oil flowing again in the anticipated levels. Also there are a lot of problems with corruption, and getting the infrastructure going again.

To say that we would have been at all concerned with Iraq if it wasn't for oil is naive in the extreme.

Because otherwise the gas companies won't continue their stranglehold on the money and power.

And no, sir, the oil IS what we are there for. There is NO intelligence to show there are nuclear weapons in Iraq, and the terrorism is everywhere - not just Baghdad.

Because it's not our Oil and that is not why we went there for.
