Okay, firstly: we were not attacked by Iraq... Secondly: since we weren´t attacked by Iraq we´re really defending or protecting our country from anything or anyone. Thirdly: That is the excuse that I hear most often from people who are uneducated about the situation in Iraq and who are blindly following our idiotic leader!!!!!!!!! I hope that sums it up for you!

In my opinion pulling out of Iraq and getting attacked again are mutually exclusive.
Of course there will be another terrorist attack on our soil at some point in the future, whether it is in 1 year, 5 years, or two decades, no one knows. The best we can do is minimize terrorist attacks, avoiding them completely is wishful thinking.
I am not clear on what Iraq has to do with minimizing attacks on US soil. The best I can come up with is that we are distracting the terrorists by focusing on Iraq and it is easier for them to hit US targets in Iraq for the time being. However, I would suspect we could do quite a bit more to protect our country if the 300 billion dollars funding the Iraq war was instead spent on protecting US borders and improving synergies between HLS, FBI, and CIA.
Not to mention having the 120K+ soldiers returning home would also bolster US security.
When you hear Bush say the the terrorists hate us because of our "freedom" and that they are "evildoers" is just his rhetoric and hyperbole.
Al-Qaeda was quite clear on why they have declared us their enemies, and our "freedom" has nothing do to with it. Logic would tell you that if they "hated our freedom" and that was the cause for attack, Canada, Switzerland, France, and Japan would be primary targets as well.
Arming Israel, occupation on what they consider their holy land, setting up puppet states in the middle east, these are the reasons they hate us. Seems like our activities in Iraq are only increasing the number of terrorists and fanning the hatred, not helping much.

Only if I had a crystal ball could I answer this question. What I do know is that Iraq was a much more peaceful place before we attacked them than today. I think we have many more enemies on the ground than we ever did before. G. W stood before the world TV stage and "told them to bring it on" Well guess what they have. Now the billion dollar a month question is what the hell do we do now! Second what have we done to make sure an attack like this never happens here again. I would say Not Much!

I think that's defeatest talk. The USA & Britain went into Iraq. They were warned this would happen. We started the mayhem and in no way should either country "cut & run" because the going got tough. If the USA pull's it's troops out now it will be the laughing stock of the world......do you want that? Whether you stay in or pull out, it won't make any difference. Spain pulled it's troops out and then they had the Madrid bombings. Sorry for anyone that wants a quick solution. It ain't gonna happen. The troops will be there for a long time to come.
Edit; The UK had terrorism for over 30 years. We didn't like it but we never got paranoid about it. There is no point worrying about the future unduly whether it will or it won't happen. Just trust your security services are on top of everything.

Do you realize that invading Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and that Iraq today has nothing to do with 9/11 or its causes?
Iraq has nothing to do with when or whether terrorist attacks might occur in the US or anywhere else.
Even US foreign policy states this. Can you update your question?

Iraq didn't attack us. Bush is an idiot. They throw the word terror and attack around too freely to scare people into believing their cause. NONE of the plane hijackers were from Iraq. NONE. We've been meddling in the Middle East for over 10 yrs. It's not working. We aren't the world police. Stop using my tax dollars to further your business ventures.
That's what I think....

our presence in Iraq has no direct connection on whether another 9-11 type attack occurs. That attack did not originate in Iraq and there is no reason to think the next one would originate from there, if it occurs.

Yes. There will be an attack on the U.S. or on U.S. interests somewhere in the world. It's because the terrorists practice "Hijra" (voluntary expatriation to carry out Jihad). That means they are obligated to go anywere to attack the Crusader nations and the U.S. The attack on America was not conducted by native-born citizens of this country or even resident aliens. The attacks on our embassies in East Africa was not conducted by citizens of those countries. Even the attack on USS Cole was not done by citizens of Yemen.
It wasn't President Bush who angered them. It wasn't even President Clinton who was in office when Usama Bin Laden issued his "fatwa" in 1998 which declared war on us. It's the fact that they see this as a decadent and corrupt world (Jahiliyah) ruled by people who do so against the Will of God. And that belief is not just directed at the West. They also adhere to the heresy of "Takfir" which says it's O.K. in carrying out Jihad for Muslim to kill Muslim.
The Salafist Jihadists were suckered by our offensive military operation in Iraq. They foolishly performed "Hijra" and went into Al Anbar and Daliya Provinces. Unfortunately, the Sunni Muslims of those two provinces recognize the danger they represent. So, many of the sheiks are "dropping a dime" on them and we are rooting them out.
