i get less speed of 7 kbps download speed on 64 kbps connection.

save your money, 10mbps is quite a bit higher the speeds you're talking about. if you are networking with other machine and shareing files, printers or services the 100mbps might help if you deal in large files. I wouldn't spend much time reading about duplex and collisions. it takes a very poorly configured network for 3 mbps to flood a 10mb network.

you have diffrent issue then you might think.
The other posters are Half Right.. Half wrong. your issue is not the speed of your internet verse Lan speed. its Duplex. you will have have Droped packets because of collisions which creates a Very big Lag on big downloads due soley to the 10Half verse the 100full. let me explain
10/100 is very diffrent 10mBytes is slower then 100mBytes yes..
and your right your internet is 1.5mBITS so 10 would be slower then your internet remember your internet is messured in mega BITS and your lan is mega BYTES so you ahve to do math but 10mega Bytes is slower then 1.5mega BITS
(its 8 bits to a byte. so 1.5megaBIT intetnet is really 12MegaBytes. so 10megaBYTES is actually slower then the 1.5MegaBits interent)
reall issues is not your is 10 or 100 closer to speed of my internet.. its that 10 is only half duplex and 100 is full
what the diffrence? do you remember CB radios? or if you are too young FRS Radios.. like the ones you can use when you go skiing.... you can only either talk or listen but not both at the same time.... a phone is diffrent you can talk and listen... you can talk over someone...

10 is half.. so its not only slower but its Even slower then you think cause you can only talk or listen but not both..
100 is faster but is even better caue you can talk and listen so its double as fast as you would think.
but real question agian is... is 100 or 1gig better...
1000 is best. higher threshold... but thats diffrent question

If you only have a 64 kb/sec connection to the net, it will make no difference at all to upgrade to a 100 Mb/sec network interface because 10 Mbs is already many, many times faster than 64 kb/sec. Your slow speed must be due to other factors.

it will make your LAN faster (connection between 2 pcs ) but not the internet thats determined by the connection speed
