2007: Wal-Mart
2006: Exxon Mobil
2001 - 2005: Wal-Mart
1986 - 2000: General Motors
1980 - 1985: Exxon Mobil
1978 - 1979: General Motors
1975 - 1977: Exxon Mobil
1955 - 1974: General Motors
Wal-Mart entered the list for the first time in 1995 and placed at #4. This is probably the highest entry position on the list in history. It's also the lowest position that Wally World has had on the Fortune 500 list.

maybe their website might have past years #1 - they've been doing it for at least 45 yrs
