i have two firemouths and a baby pleco in my 2og and i was just wondering is it really neccessary to have an air pump that creates buble to the tank....
If i shut them off and put it away will my fish die?

No, you don't have to have an air pump. Air pumps/bubble wands all that stuff is mostly for decoration. So your fish won't die. The filter will agitate the water surface enough to allow the gas(oxygen and CO2) to exchange at the surface. The only time I can think of where a air pump would be needed, was if the temperature in the tank was high(over 80F), higher temps oxygen gets depleted, so the extra surface agitation would be beneficial.
One thing you should consider, a larger tank for your firemouths and the oscars. I'd say at least a 40 gallon for the firemouths(they will get territorial if they start breeding), and at least a 75 gallon, but larger would be better for the 2 oscars.

the real reason is to oxygenate the water if your filter system is a hanging filter most likely you dont need an air pump because of the water flowing back into the tank creates bubbles that do the same

Not necessarily - power filters oxygenate the water when they pour the water into the tank, so air pumps are not needed with them. I don't use air pumps in any tank of mine because the filters do the job.

A gourami or 2 yet basically the dwarf ones extra advantageous than probably. A peacock eel is a threat in case you have a sand backside. a sturdy selection might additionally be some otocinlclus or different algae eater and in line with threat some cory cats? i admire the black skirt and ghost tetras besides. mollies and platys and a minimum of one male betta. purple tail sharks and rainbow sharks are cool, yet you won't be able to have any small fish with them. With a twenty gallon tank you have particularly some ideas, in basic terms examine if the fish extra wholesome and don't flow over 20 inches of person fish without taking into attention their swimming tiers and bio output.

Definitely need a filter, but the air pump probably isn't necessarily required. The filter oxygenates the water while filtering it.

you should have said before that you DO have a filter in there, no wonder everybody says yes
no you don't need it necessarely, only if you want to provide extra oxygen for your fish
As long as your filter is adequate to the size of your tanks, you're absolutely fine
Hope that helps
Good luck

Its not necessary, its just to airate the tank and put more oxygen in, but plants can do that. Some fish need more air than others.
The fish will be healthier with it.

You need filters. Without them your fish will be dead in a week or so. Check out Penguin or Marineland filters.
