In short, had you been born at the same time on the same day of the year 2,000 years ago, you would have been born under a different sign.

In fact, there should be 13 signs, not 12.

Try this technique. . .

Find the coordinates of the sun on your date of birth by downloading the daily sun table at the first link.
http://www.pietro.org/Download/Downloads.htm#DailySunTable

Now go to http://www.sky-map.org and find where in the sky those coordinates are. Drag your cursor to the nearest constellation and a window will pop up telling you what it is called.

Note that this will disagree a bit with astrological calendars which seem to cue off of the equinoxes and solstices and are a couple of thousand years out of date!
