why do you think "left" has anything to do with it?
wasn't Franklin Roosevelt a "leftist", didn't we win WWII?
what about the "cold war"?
why are so insistent on blaming someone else with this "its not my fault its the left, waa" attitude
buck up and take your due responsibility and quit whining!

War has changed. While a democrat like Franklin Roosevelt could win World War II, the might of the United States is so great that her enemies are unlikely to ever again line up on the battelfield to be slaughtered. Wars in the future will mostly be insurgencies, like Vietnam, iraq or Afhanistan. The only way to pacify a nation like Iraq or Afghanistan is to put millions of troops on the ground and keep them there indefinitely. And then what do we do with the next little country that flares up? One could argue that the most successful leader in terms of US power and prestige in the last 20 years was Bill Clinton. he spent his term making friends, avoiding foreign entanglements, and strengthening the economy that is the real source of US power. That's a model for future leaders to follow.

I don't agree with your premise, the left is all for the War on Terror but we oppose the bush jr war for greed. Anyone that doesn't agree with you is the left?
The people were against the Vietnam conflict, the people are against the Iraq occupation. Is all 74% of the nation the left?
Doesn't wash, but a decent rant.

Of course not, are you kidding! The left has already given most of our country back to Mexico anyway! We are in the final days of our country now anyway, so enjoy what you can before Hitlery comes to take your guns and then we'll be her's until she gives us to India or China! 100 days, now I know you are kidding. If it last more than a week, let's just lay down and come back home! It will only take a matter of time before some rag head middle easterner comes to terrorize us again anyway! Let's fight in Middle East, instead of mid-west!

"The left," led by Bill Clinton, won three wars in the 1990s: Bosnia quickly without losing a man, Kosovo quickly without losing a man, and Haiti quickly without even firing a shot.
Somalia wasn't even a defeat; as many died there as in the "great victory" the right proclaimed in Grenada, and at least in Somalia, "mission accomplished": People fed. Bush Sr. did the right thing there, handed it over to Clinton, and he did the right thing.
The left is smarter than the right, and knows how to fight wars. Calling someone "left" is not the same as "appeaser" or even "pacifist." And certainly not the same as "communist" or "socialist." You need to study political science more.

It's kinda tough to win a war when your democrat congress is voting to surrender...oh, sorry, 'change in direction'. I apologize for not using the party language. My bad. So, I'd have to say no.
By the way, when did the military adopt the tenant that 'changing direction' equated to fleeing under fire, leaving your friends and allies to die. They didn't teach that in the military college that I attended. Progressives? How about in your military colleges? Anybody? Anyone? Bueller..? Bueller..?
I didn't think so.

You can believe whatever you want to. In the first Gulf war we had a republican president and a democratic congress, just like now, and we won that war.
I guess that proves that Dubya ain't his daddy.
If you choose to ignore every mistake made bu the Bush administration in this war then I can't stop you there either.

funny.. I thought we were still in.. and the "left" still supported Afghanistan.. maybe what you meant to ask is will the left continue to try and keep America morally sound by voicing their opinions when the administration deceives the public to go to war? and the answer would be yes, we on the left will always fight for truth and integrity.

they still believe in that "hearts and minds" bull crap. the way to win a war is to kill every breathing soul that opposes you and blow up thier homes, salt their fields, americanize their children, and erase every trace of their existance. If they surrended before all of that happens, then maybe they've learned their lesson.
