My whole office uses IM to communicate. My manager is sitting here reprimanding me via IM. It's kind of uncomfortable! What say you?

hmm,i would prefer that as to a face to face reprimand,that way i can eye roll and cuss her all i want and not have to look at her as if i am listening and participate in the conversation.
send her a random smiley - like the little red mad face,or the birthday cake. =)

Ouch! Why don't people talk to each other anymore? Can't your boss just get up and walk over to your desk or call you? But to be honest, I think I'd rather be reprimanded via IM than face to face. I'd probably cry if I had to look at them.

I think it is impersonal to talk through ims especially if the person works with you and is reprimanding you. They should be able to speak to yo face to face. I have never heard of anybody doing that before?

I think that's great, because it allows the two of you to communicate, AND disagree without being face to face and potentially getting into a heated exchange that one of both of you may regret. That's just my opinion, though.

I think it's a take on today's society. We'd rather text or IM than have to make actual eye contact. Sad, huh?
