If you have a RIGHT to health care then the government has the right to FORCE doctors to provide it to you (the government doesn't actually provide any services, it just pays the bills for those who actually do the work). At which point the doctors are no longer the free owners of their labor but rather slaves to anyone who needs their service. You might try to tone it down and simply call it involuntary servitude, but it's all the same thing and it's all prohibited by the 13th amendment.

Whether we should all have equal access to health care is a different question. But if you say that you have a RIGHT to something then it cannot be denied to you. And doing so would interfere with the individual rights of the doctors. So no, we do not have the right to have a service provided to us, by the doctors, tax payers, or anyone else.

I believe that it is a government's responsibility to ensure that all citizens are afforded healthcare. Enough money is paid by those citizens in taxes, and I should think that their first priority would be their health, and that of their children and everyone else in the country. What good is it to have 'the greatest nation in the world' but millions cannot afford to go to the doctor?

Government run healthcare is a completely different matter. I don't know of a government on this planet that can effectively manage money or process...so the management of the healthcare system clearly needs to be sourced out to an organization fit to handle the level of structure and effectiveness required.

A civilised country does not let its people die because they don't have the money to pay for catastrophic illness or injury. It has nothing to do with socialism or communism. It's about simple humanity. Your lies about Australia are so stupid they are laughable. We have a population of only 24 million but have the world's 7th richest economy and the world's highest over all standard of living. And we have universal health care because we value each and every citizen. BTW, I've lived in China, a dead set communist country, and people there have to pay for each hospital visit.

I don't want the government anywhere near our health care, how many things can the government screw up before we get the message? I believe that there is no right to government provided service other than to print money, and to stand an Army, anything else and they will make matter worse as we have seen in the IRS, INS, HUD, Social Security, VA, GAO, Border Patrol, Welfare, Medicare, and so on, and on, and on.

US citizens have an inherent right to be left alone, and consequently a duty to leave each other alone, everything else is a privilege that comes with responsibility.

If you can't leave your fellow citizens alone, you are in violation of the law.

While health care is considered a right in all other industrialized nations, in the U.S. it is considered a privilege.

If we are paying taxes, then we should get something for our money.

Currently, all we get is a failed 'war' in Iraq.

And dubya is having to put us into debt to pull that off.
