base 3; 2+2=11
modulo3 ; 2+2=1
base 4; 2+2=10

Mathematically 2 + 2 = 4, but
philosophically, it will depend upon what two of what you are adding; and, certainly, two + two in quantum mechanics and gravitation theory do not necessarily add up to 4. Plus, in a different universe, 2 + 2 may not be anything at all.
